Who would have thought we would have ever met Carrie Bradshaw as a teen? Well tonight we were introduced to Carrie Bradshaw's teenage self. Candace Bushnell introduced us to teen Carrie a couple of years ago in The Carrie Diaries book, and again with Summer in the City (both books I have read, and enjoyed). Tonight the show appropriately titled "The Carrie Diaries" starring AnnaSophia Robb premiered on CW, and tt was awesome. If you haven't read the books, here is a recap: Carrie's mother passes away and she is faced with "finding herself" as we all tried to do as teens. She goes through typical teen problems boys, love, friends, and trying to help her younger rebellious sister Dorrit deal with the loss of their mother. Don't look at this show as the adult Carrie Bradshaw. The show explains how Carrie became "Carrie Bradshaw all grown up" I have to admit it's a great show, at some points I even had to try to remember how Sarah Jessica Parker's voice sounded during the moments she would talk in her head. AnnaSophia was that good. This is definitely steered toward the tweens and teens who I'm guessing only are familiar with Sex and The City through Tumblr and their older siblings or mothers, but I have to say that I am a fan so far. The fashion is amazing also! Since this is based in 1984, be ready for bright colors and a lot of Madonna references. I'll give it a 4.5, not a 5 yet since this was the first episode. Watch it next Monday at 8 pm on the CW.
